October 3rd each year celebrates the Deutsche Einheitstag (Germany Day of Unity), commemorating the re-unification of East and West Germany in 1989. Bottom line it is another holiday to take off work-and play. And play the Germans did. Our little branch, each year, sponsors an indoor Church Fußball Turnier (soccer tournament) and this year 24 teams came from all over Germany to compete all day long in a super facility with 7 indoor fields.
And, of course, IF you sponsor a tournament in your own city, you better do well. Final score after 88 matches, Langerhorn III(in the Berlin area) beating Bremen I(my team), 4-2. So our boys in powder blue took 2nd. This goes along with a 1st place finish in a Berlin Tournament in May. Our little team does pretty well.
