The figures await their turn at the docks to board the ship to America(can you tell the difference between the real people and the manikins waiting to board the ship?). Most without language and working skills to compete in the new world, and leaving family behind, this was a difficult time for most immigrants with many deciding not to leave Europe when their time came, fearful of the long voyage and uncertainties to come. This was especially prevalent with the tall ship travel in the mid 1800s and uncertain arrival expectations. But most left and forged their new lives in the New World.
