Called To Serve

Easter is almost on us and today, Good Friday, just about everything here in Germany is closed. Most shops will also be closed Saturday, Sunday and then Easter Monday, a legal holiday. It surely is a way for the Germans to take a 4 day holiday without using any of their own vacation days. The shops and department stores have been full of holiday displays of Easter goodies, bunnies, chicks, eggs and of course, chocolate.

We forge ahead with our center and this past week we got our carpet in the room, new lights and the Internet cable, a most important item to help out the young adults with their studies. And, did I forget, we have a "Kicker". A 300# soccer table that will certainly get a lot of play by the youth.

When it is cold outside, and you are shoppin' at the Market, time to take a late winter break (we thought it was Spring) and have a little Kartoffeln Puffer (potato pancake) with a dollop of fresh applesauce, one of Marie's favorites we see her eating here.
Here we also see the Relief Society President having helped Marie install some new curtains for the kitchen, for it will be pretty hot in the "Küche" come summer.

And Sister Adamczyk (from Switzerland) and Sister Morris of Springville, Utah, standing next to the Easter Tree in our apartment. Then we see Marie and her favorite Bäckerei clerk, Frau Hilge Trautmann, explain why it is so difficult to pass by the counter without buying what you've been smelling as you walk through the store.
