Busy week with lessons, talks and travel. From the pics you can see plenty and just a highlight or two: 1. The young people gave me a "heart attack" for my birthday earlier, with hearts plastered all over the door; 2. Marie's ears were getting a might cold on the morning walks, so she finally broke down and got this silly knit hat with flaps...kinda dorky if you ask me, but it's the "in" headgear this winter; 3. The large group of classroom students was a pic from our Wednesday night Institute Class that I taught; 4. We had a great bowling activity this past Friday night and super turnout. It might have been the advertising, the fliers, the badgering, the pleading, the fact we have more eligible guys than girls here, OR that Marie baked over 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes (something the Germans don't know about) as we celebrated Heather's birthday. They all said Happy Birthday, Heather, well really they say, "Zum Geburtztag, viel Glück"
Sunday, we were off to Wilhelmshaven in the rain and cold and we were the concluding speakers for the Sacrament Program. Marie just introduced herself and bore her testimony in English with the Branch President standing next to her and translating each line. Then, she didn't´t talk too long 'cause she was starting to laugh as she would say a simple line, wait for him to translate, but he was being more creative and making her statements a little longer, you know, German can be more descriptive. After all, there are over 700 pages in the German Book of Mormon and it only takes 450 pages in English to say the same thing.
Well, my time to talk and i give them a nice "ice breaker" with: "Liebe Geschwister, es scheint dass ich das letzte Hindernis zwischen Ihnen und dem Gemeindeessen bin. Meine Frau hat mich gebeten, die Ansprache kurz zu halten!" What that means is, "...good day everyone, it seems that I am the last obstacle between You and the pot-luck luncheon you all had planned, and my wife said to make my remarks short and to the point 'cause she is hungry and the food looked pretty good in the other room!"
So I did! Kept it under 20 minutes.
