Bremen Weihnachtsmarkt 2007

Early in December, 2007, we had some visitors from our past, the Bob and Judy Palmers, having lived in Germany for 40 years now, these expatriates were Lindi's Young Adult Advisers when she lived in Germany about 17 years ago. They made the trip from Southern Germany to visit with us and we went downtown to the Weihnachtsmarkt. The sites and "sounds" are here for your enjoyment. The picture here we have shown before, the cast of the Grimms Fairy Tale of the Bremen City Musicians, the Donkey, Dog, Cat and the Rooster. In the city plaza, there is what looks like a man-hole cover, where tourists and locals can deposit coins and with each contribution, one of the characters sound-off to every ones delight. I think we all spent a lot of coinage to hear the trapped underground characters make noise. The proceeds go to a local charity.

Then the little video of the street musicians, not just during Christmas, but year long. I could have brought over my own accordian and made a few Euros during the evening!

Then, there is the "over-the-top" decorations, even in the stores...hope you can see and feel the spirit of the season we enjoy this year.
